In-store Impact

Within Home Pest, household insect control overtook rodent control in 2024 to become the largest pest control category with a value of £70m. This growth is driving range development, marketing and retail merchandising across the Zero In® range. It also informs range selection of our Top 100 best-selling insect control products, helping participating retailers achieve over 25% sales growth year on year.

Growth Drivers

EPOS data is a valuable tool used by STV to predict seasonal demand and maintain service levels – this year we achieved 97% OTIF. The data is drawn from thousands of UK retail outlets, and it provides valuable insights into longer-term trends and developments within Home Pest. From September 1 st we will be sharing this as a quarterly e-shot with all our retail customers to help you optimise inventory and maximise sales from your pest control fixture. Just go to www.stvuk.com and sign up to receive your copy of our regular newsletter.

Whilst all sorts of pests continue to trouble UK households, more than a quarter of all local authorities no longer provide any pest control services. The cost of calling out a commercial pest controller is, on average, £230. But for DIY users, the quantity and quality of information available to help choose and use products has exploded in recent years – at STV we estimate that over half of all retail sales

begin with a click. And growth in DIY Home Pest control can be expected to continue into the future as a result.
